October 15, 2023 - We often think of Jesus going about performing healing miracles that cured people of biological diseases such as blindness, deafness, lameness, and many other such ailments that medical procedures take care of today. However, Jesus was actually a healer of the illnesses that were sociological in the mindset of that biblical time period. We’ll examine one such incident in the passage of Mark noted above and translate that into our own time and mission and ministry in the 21stcentury.
October 22, 2023 - Jesus takes three disciples (Simon Peter, James, and John) with him up a high mountain. The three disciples are soon witnessing three biblical heroes together: Jesus, Moses, and Elijah. It is who each one is that is significant and would have an impact on those who heard this story later. We’ll look at that significance and what we can take away from it for our time.
October 29, 2023 - After arguing with one another about who was ranked higher in the pecking order of disciples, Jesus takes a little child and presents the child to the group. He says that whoever shows hospitality to such ones as this little child is truly great. What did this mean? What does it mean then for us today? The answer may surprise you. It certainly will confront you with your self.
