Pastor Tom has been serving in ministry since a teenager. He first heard a calling to ministry at age 17. Following high school, he took on the leadership of the children’s ministry of 3rd through 6th graders for several years in his home church while attending college and earning an undergraduate degree in Sociology and Psychology. He then began seminary and was hired as a Youth Pastor serving also as an Associate Pastor in a two-church charge. His first official appointment began in 1989. Tom has served three churches fulltime before coming to Valley Forge UMC in July 2021. He also earned a Doctorate of Ministry degree from Wesley Theological Seminary in D.C. in 2008. His doctoral dissertation was on the power of our narrative stories to heal ourselves and others. He has authored the book “Your God Path: Practical Ways to Live the Best Moments in Your Life” which is available at Amazon.com.
Tom is married to his high school sweetheart, Jane, since 1983 and they have three children, one dog, and one cat. When not on church business, he enjoys playing guitar, writing, riding his motorcycle, spending time in nature, and developing his body, mind and spirit through Kosho Ryu Kempo martial arts in which he has been a black belt since 2009.
